The ASME head manufacturing standards mainly include ASME B16.9 and ASME VIII Division 1. ‌

ASME B16.9 standard
The ASME B16.9 standard is applicable to American standard heads and is mainly used in the manufacturing of pressure vessels and piping systems. This standard specifies the requirements for the material, dimensions, tolerances, inspection, and marking of the head. American standard heads are commonly used in container equipment such as storage tanks, heat exchangers, towers, reactors, boilers, and separation equipment.

ASME VIII Division 1 standard
The ASME VIII Division 1 standard is a part of the construction rules for pressure vessels, applicable to pressure vessels and heads manufactured in accordance with ASME standards. This standard requires a U-stamp to be stamped on the product to demonstrate compliance with ASME specifications.

Scope of application and certification requirements
The scope of application of ASME B16.9 and ASME VIII Division 1 standards covers various container equipment, such as water, beverages, beer, food, petrochemicals, nuclear power, machinery, medical equipment, fertilizers, shipbuilding, waterproofing, and other fields. ASME certification is a factory certification that specifies standards, while PED certification is a safety certification, and the two have significant differences in nature. In PED certification, basic safety requirements are mandatory, while technical standards are not mandatory unless specified by the user.
