Types of Dished End
Pressure Vessel Hemispherical Dished End

Hemispherical Dish Ends

Known for their symmetrical shape, hemispherical dish ends distribute stress evenly, making them ideal for high-pressure applications. They are commonly used in storage tanks, boilers, and process vessels.

Torispherical Dished Head

Torispherical Dish Ends

These dish ends have a combination of a spherical crown and a knuckle region. Torispherical dish ends offer excellent strength and are widely used in pressure vessels, filtration systems, and distillation columns.

Semi Elliptical Tank Heads

Ellipsoidal Dish Ends

Ellipsoidal dish ends have a shallow profile, making them suitable for applications where headroom is limited. They are commonly used in reactors, autoclaves, and water treatment equipment.

Flanged and Dished Tank Heads

Flat Dish Ends

Flat dish ends, as the name suggests, have a flat surface and are often used as closure plates for smaller vessels or as supports in piping systems.

Application of Dished End

Petrochemical And Chemical Industries

In these industries, dished ends are essential components of pressure vessels and storage tanks. The ability to withstand high pressures and corrosive environments makes dished ends an ideal choice.

Food And Beverage Industry

The food and beverage industry requires materials that are not only durable but also compliant with hygiene standards. Stainless steel dished ends from provide the perfect solution, offering both durability and cleanliness.

Water Treatment And Desalination Plants

Water treatment and desalination processes often involve high pressure and corrosive environments. Robust and corrosion-resistant dished ends are well-suited for these applications.

Construction And Infrastructure

In the construction sector, dished ends are used in various structural components and storage solutions. The versatility in dimensions and materials offered by ensures that they can meet the specific needs of this industry.

FAQ

Q: What is a dished end?

A: Dished ends are a versatile metal spun part that can be used for a variety of applications. This includes larger structures such as pressure vessels, storage tanks, boilers, and more. In order to be effective at sealing a range of different container designs, dished ends can come in different shapes and sizes.

Q: What is the difference between dished and elliptical head?

A: An elliptical head is stronger than a dished head, but an elliptical head of the same diameter is somewhat deeper than a dished one and is slightly more difficult to manufacture than a dished head. It consumes more materials and costs a bit more, and the difference in volume remains small.

Q: What is the thinning allowance for dished ends?

A: Thinning allowance of 2 mm (minimum) shall be considered for dished end. Vessel and atmospheric tank ends shall be of dished design and constructed by forging, pressing or spinning process. Conical or flat ends shall not be accepted. All dished ends shall be stress relieved.

Q: What shape is a dished end?

A: Torispherical Dishend: This is the most common type of dishend. It has a shape resembling a torus (donut), with a knuckle radius at the transition between the cylindrical body and the curved end. Ellipsoidal Dishend: Ellipsoidal dishends have a shape resembling an ellipse.

Q: How are dished ends made?

A: Dished and flanged ends are cold formed by firstly pressing the spherical radius followed by spinning the corner radius and straight flange. They can also be dished only (pressed), flanged only (spun) or conical spinning's.

Q: What is the formula for the surface area of a dished end?

A: The area of a sphere is 4 (pi) (radius)2. The area of 1/2 of the sphere is 2 (pi) (radius)2. If you want to add in the flat end of the hemisphere, that makes the total surface area 3 (pi) (radius)2.

Q: How to choose what material to use in making your dished end?

A: There are different types of products that are used to create dished ends. Materials include duplex steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium and titanium. Surface treatments include sandblasting and pickling.

As one of the leading dished end manufacturers in China, we warmly welcome you to buy high quality dished end for sale here and get quotation from our factory. For price consultation, contact us.
